We aim to host workshops for our high school girls that will help prepare them for future health careers. Our goal is to provide a safe environment full of support that will provide a platform to prepare our girls for college.

The founders of GEMS aim to focus on our mentees' health and wellness, academic and professional development, confidence, and goals. GEMS provides guidance for high school girls and serves as an opportunity for college students and graduates to support mentees in their journey to medicine and personal growth.

About the Founders

GIRLS EMBRACING MEDICINE & SUCCESS

Emani Matthews

Received her Bachelors of Science from Western Michigan University in 2018. She is an aspiring doctor who dedicates her time through volunteering and clinical work.

Kaela Brown

​

Graduate from the University of Michigan in 2019 with a Bachelor in Science. She works as a scribe in an underserved population. It is a dream and goal of Kaela's to become a nephrologist.
